“Hunting the black-tail is beyond all comparison the nobler sport.”
-T. R., Hunting Trips of a Ranchman

On Thanksgiving day this year, guys all over America got together in fields to play football. Others got together to watch football.

A few of us had something to do.

  1. YOU are amazing–this was a long-awaited post and I knew it would be good TMF!!! A really pretty buck, son!

  2. Gorgeous animal. I’m sure it was a just reward after all of your hard work. Congrats!

  3. TMF went out to hunt
to shoot a deer for supper.
When he got home he was so proud
that he’d gotten himself a whooper.

  4. This is awesome. Obviously a very happy Thankgiving. I love that Alaskans wear xtratufs always.

  5. all the flowers cropped
    they came so silently
    the black-tailed deer

    twisted arbutus
    carving waves
    attack the rock

    moss-hung trees
    a deer moves into
    the hunter’s silence

  6. Beautiful. Congratulations, I’m sure it was no small job.

  7. wow, that is some dear. it would make penny cry.

  8. Good Job

  9. Wow. Nice. The blacktails really made me look dumb this year. Too smart down south.

  10. Interesting.

I’ve eaten venison and carried a gun but find gorgeous a difficult adjective for the dead.

Will catch and release ever snare the rifle fraternity.

  11. TMF your in trouble. I look at blogs and i see dead deer.
    shame on you.
    your loving niece,
    tall girl
